Bishop's Waltham Parish Council - Annual Report 2009-10
Clerk's Report
2009-10 has been another very busy year for the staff of the Parish Council.
The Council staff are as follows:
- Lindsay Edge - Clerk and Proper Officer to the Council
- Kathryn Grover - Deputy Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer to the Council
- John Storry - Projects Administrator
- Stephanie Andrews - Minutes Clerk and Admin Support Assistant
- Roger Bryant - Senior Groundsman
- Trevor Veck - Groundsman
- Richard Stratton - Evening/weekend caretaker (Jubilee Hall)
- Gloria Stratton - Daytime caretaker (Jubilee Hall)
- Daniel Shepherd - Caretaker (Priory Park)
The Parish Council has enjoyed a period of staff stability over the last year.
Roger Bryant and Trevor Veck, the groundstaff, have had a busy year dealing with the damage caused by snow, ice and rain (lots of rain). The improved drainage on the Priory Park pitches did result in fewer matches being cancelled than in previous years.
Richard, Gloria and Daniel, the caretakers at the halls, have also been busy. The consequence of their labours has been improved facilities for the hirers at both sites.
John Storry, the Projects Administrator, has had a very productive year culminating in the contracts being signed for the new play area at Priory Park. John leaves the Parish Council in April and so I would like to thank him for all the hard work he has undertaken in his 6 years with us.
Steph Andrews, the Minutes Clerk, has continued to provide essential support to the office and is now a regular ‘fixture’ two days a week. In the coming months Steph will increase her responsibilities to become Clerk for the Tourism, Community and Environment Committee.
Kathryn Grover, has continued to support me in her role as the Deputy Clerk. In this role Kathryn has managed the Buildings Committee and undertaken the tasks assigned to ensure that the halls remain a valuable community asset.
As Responsible Financial Officer to the Council, Kathryn has also managed the Council’s accounts and budgets.
I would like to thank Kathryn, John, Steph, Roger, Trevor, Richard, Gloria and Dan for all their hard work this year and the support that they have given me during the difficult times.
I am very lucky to work with such a great team of people!
Finally, I would like to add my personal thanks to Steve Miller for his support as Chairman over the last two years. It hasn’t always been a smooth ride but he has always managed to make the ‘pot holes’ easier!
I look forward to working with the new Chairman, but please be aware (whoever you are) you have a hard act to follow!
Mrs Lindsay Edge
Clerk to the Council - March 2010
