News Matters

Sainsbury’s – Abbey Mill Site


At a special meeting of the Parish Council on August 12th the Council considered the application by Sainsbury’s for a supermarket and doctors’ surgery on the Abbey Mill site.
Councillors were very pleased to see such an excellent attendance for this meeting showing the strength of feeling both for and against the proposal.

After hearing from members of the public, representatives of Sainsbury’s, the practice manager from the surgery, county and district councillors the Council considered the application in detail.

Mayor of Winchester opens Children’s Play Area

The Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Dominic Hiscock, accompanied by the WCC Open Spaces officer, Stuart Dunbar-Dempsey, officially opened the new and refurbished children’s play area at Priory Park.

The Parish Council and the Mayor were delighted to see many children and their families enjoying a magic show, barbeque, cakes and refreshments provided by Tiddlywinks Pre-School, and, of course, the new play equipment. This project was brought to a successful conclusion thanks to the Open Spaces Fund held by Winchester City Council.

Parisioners Surgery

The Parish Council holds a Parishioners’ Surgery on the second Tuesday of each month.
The surgery is open from 6.30pm until 7.25pm and precedes the monthly Parish Council meeting.

Parishioners are able to talk to Councillors about any issues relating to Bishop’s Waltham.
