The policing pledge
is a set of promises from the police to the public about the services they will provide. Full details are on the Hampshire Police web site here
We asked the parish council to provide us with some policing priorities
for the Bishops Waltham area. They asked us to concentrate on speeding and youth nuisance.
- We are working with our colleagues in the Roads Policing Unit to deal with this issue. Drivers suspected of speeding are stopped and spoken to. The local Safer Neighbourhoods Team beat officer for Bishops Waltham has recently been trained to use the handheld speed check device and this will increase the opportunities for local speeding education and enforcement.
Youth nuisance and anti-social behaviour
- Aside from our summer campaign to reduce anti-social behaviour, we also made visits to schools in the area in October, to deliver fire safety presentations, which set clear expectations for youth behaviour at Guy Fawkes Night and Halloween. The response was good with the result that we had a very low number of calls this year in Bishops Waltham.
On patrol, we get to know the youths that we regularly speak to, and we have visited them at home and got to know some of their parents. We patrol anti-social ‘hotspots’
in the evenings and give advice or confiscate alcohol where necessary.
We issue referrals to youths who could benefit from the help of the Anti-Social Behaviour Panel (ASB panel) or the Youth Inclusion and Support Panel (YISP).
